Also dividing your technology requirements in phases of growth is advised as it will help you in phased investments. In case you have the requirements documents with you, you may then refer it to a consulting agency like wirefoot and they will review the same and suggest you a right application fitting in our investment plan. You may also like to explore open source like oscommerce, magento, etc / Saas like Martjack, Bigcommerce, etc and if you are willing to spend more then 500,000 you may explore OctaShop (by ANMsoft),

The key challenges in what you are trying to do are following 1) Good product offering 2) Setup to meet your Delivery commitments 3) Reaching out to your customers With your unique promotions approach you must be able to reach customers, you can also explore facebook, and other social media. You may also focus on SEO. Internet can be best used via good word of mouth and search engines. Try and get strong people to ensure your deliveries that is the key of all Above everything that you do must be a sound strategy that ties everything up in to a system and process. Valuation of the online B2B portal
Manoj Sarda
16/09/2010
The valuation is a very notional thing as the number totally highlight value in future which is going to happen. One one side investors will have safe equations to arrive at valuation, the promoters will be led by their passion for the idea and would not settle down on less. There is in general not defined technique to arrive at a valuation of an non listed organization. Still, what you would need is following to arrive at a valuation 1) Information Memorandum, which should talk about your line of services, revenue streams, growth opportunities, swat analysis, people, growth road map, projected growth for few years and the summary of success in past 2) Project Cash Flow Statements, in this you need to create financial snap shot of your business on a quarterly basis for coming 3-5 years. You must include all costs, earning, including land building material, etc, also include the amount you wish to raise as loan or investment, etc. Do not forget tax, interest, etc. It also depends who you are looking at for funding. for angels (HNI Individual) they will fund you basis your face value, they will invest in you and not your organisation, so there you need to ask for money of the size you believe you can deliver value. there can be some thumbrules like 4 times the revenue, or 20 PE on profit etc, but essentially it is a sell to the investor that you need to do. Importantly you would need 1) Clarity of Business objective and growth road map 2) Good team for execution 3) Clarity of why you need funds, where you wish to deploy it 4) Clarity of how much value can you make for the investors and what will be the exit, either it is IPO or M&A, etc. I hope this helps, adg

Growing into social media
SURESH
15/09/2010
very. Consider this - you wish to start an organisation the most important aspect is how to get customers and how to pay least for doing so. Social media is the answer. it can give you more quality customers, better references, at no cost at all. Young entrepreneurs must do social media themselves first and make it integral part of their marketing strategy.

What is SEO
S K Abrol
18/06/2009
SEO (Search Engine Optimization), is collection of methods and techniques to make your site searchable by web search engines like google, yahoo, bing etc. In SEO you would do things to improve visibility of your site on search engines like making them come on page one for relevant keywords. For example for watches India you want your site to come on top 5 results, so that you can get more people to click on it and reach your website, where you can convert them into sales or enquiries. There are two forms of SEO Off Page / On Page, which is very simple to understand. Techniques used on your website like layout change, adding text etc are all on page, and things done outside like exchanging a link from some other site, writting blogs that point back to your site, etc are all off page. The underline logic of SEO is based on perceived logic of how search engine work. Since SEO can be use to mislead users trying to search right information, the search engines keep on changing their logic. The best way to go about SEO is 1) Ensure you create a good text based detailed site with relevently places information 2) follow the guidelines of SEO compatibility 3) Spread the word about your website, have other people recommend your site on public forums, etc 4) get users of your site to do stuff for you like write reviews, share the link with friends, book mark your site, share it on facebook, spread a word on twitter, etc etc.. SEO is an endless concept more you learn more you feel you need to learn, and there there are more such things like SMM (Social Media Marketing :) ) Regards, Ankur

SEO
Aindrila Mitra
02/06/2009
Yes. A flash based site is likely to have lower SEO value because search engines can not read flash format and extract text content out of it, and the entire search engine model works on diggin into text, storing it and displaying it. How to over come this problem 1) completly avoid 100% flash site. Keep very little flash content if at all, like the main banner, etc. 2) Use Java script for image slide show, etc instead of flash, today javascript has become very strong and can product amazing user experience like flash 3) ensure use of meta data, description, keywords, etc. 4) If the busines demands flash site then keep a generic home page with links to both HTML site and flash site and keep relevant conetent on the home page as well
